To draw a year of tenth birthday celebrations to a close, Dig That Treasure! proudly presents Ditto, a compilation of covers in aid Resonance FM.
At the start of this year, ten artists were tasked with covering ten obscurities that have appeared on Dig That Treasure!'s Resonance FM show over the last decade. The resulting album is an eclectic, adventurous and remarkably coherent journey across time, genre and borders.
Among the obscurities chosen are a song by an iconic street busker; the soundtrack to a Sega grocery store; a Japanese wedding song; the b-side to the only single by Woody Guthrie’s daughter. Closing the record is ‘Dig That Treasure’, the eponymous track from the album that this project is named after.
Ditto itself means many things. As another compilation in the Dig That Treasure! catalogue, it means "the same thing again". As the title of a cover album, it refers to the act of repeating, paying tribute. As a celebration of Dig That Treasure!'s 10th year it can be read as DTT + 10 = D1TT0.
All proceeds go to Resonance FM, London's community arts station, realised by a dedicated community of volunteer engineers and programme-makers. Registered charity no.: 290236.
